Materials: Patons Astra acrylic yarn DK weight
in white, maize yellow, deep pink, medium tan,
hot orange, and a tiny bit of cardinal red
4 mm knitting needles
small round black beads for the eyes
pink button and two small seed beads for pig's nose
blunt ended needle to sew the seam and ears, tails, and beaks
beading needle and thread to sew on the eyes
Cast on 26 stitches.
Work 21 rows in garter stitch [that is, knit every row].
There should be 11 ridges on the right side.
Next row: *Knit 1, knit 2 together, repeat from * to last 2 stitches. Knit 2. [18 stitches]
- Knit 1 row.
Next row: *Knit 1, knit 2 together, repeat from * to end of row. [12 stitches]
- Knit 1 row.
Next row: *Knit 1, knit 2 together, repeat from * to end of row. [8 stitches]
Cut the yarn leaving a tail long enough to sew through the last 8 stitches,
gather up tightly, and sew the back seam.

PPPiggie's Piggy's Ears: [make 2] Cast on 4 stitches in pink yarn,
and work 4 rows garter stitch.
Next row: Knit 1 knit 2 together, knit 1. [3 stitches]
Slip 1, knit 2 together, pass slipped stitch over.
Cut yarn and weave in to finish off.
Sew the ears to the top of egg cozy.
Piggy Tail: Cast on 8 stitches.
Knit one row.
Cast off, and sew to the bottom of the egg cozy at the back seam.
Piggy's Nose: Sew a pink button to center of pig's face.
Use beading thread and two small seed beads for nostrils.

Bunny Ears: [make 2]
Using tan yarn cast on 10 stitches and knit 3 rows
Garter stitch. Cast off.
Sew the ears to top of egg cozy.
Bunny Tail: Make a small pom pom in white and sew to the bottom,
at back seam of the egg cozy.
Embroider on the Bunny's nose with pink yarn as shown in the picture.
Sew the eyes on with beading thread and round black beads.
If you are making these for children under 3 years of age, don't use beads,
instead embroider the faces on with yarn.
It's safer for the little ones.
The beaks are also sewn on in orange or yellow yarn.
Attach a few strands of yarn to top of the cozies and tie them into a knot,
trim them and split the yarn ends to make a fuzzy little crest.
I use them to cover Kinder Surpise Chocolate Eggs. Kids Love them.
