Circle of Friends

 

Materials: Two skeins Berroco Vintage DK weight yarn,

one main color and one contrast color;

4 mm double pointed or circular knitting needles;

tapestry needle for weaving in ends

Gauge: 22 stitches = 10 cm or 4 inches

Abbreviations: sts = stitches; K = knit; P = purl;

K f&b = knit into front and back of stitch


Cast on 100 stitches in main color.

Join in the round being careful not to twist stitches.

Round 1: *k 3, p 2, repeat from* to end of round.

Repeat round 1, 4 more times. [5 rounds worked in 3x2 rib]

Increase round: *K f&b, k 2, p 2, repeat from* to end of round. [120 sts]

              Gray square = Main color; White square = Contrast color

      Repeat the 20 stitch chart across the round. Work 18 rows of chart.

Cut Main color leaving a length long enough to weave in on the wrong side.

Work 10 more rows in contrast color.

Decrease for crown: *K 10, K 2tog, repeat from* to end of round.

Knit 1 round.

*K 9, K 2tog, repeat from* to end of round.

Knit 1 round.

*K 8, K 2tog, repeat form* to end of round.

Knit 1 round.

*K 7, K 2tog, repeat from* to end of round.

Knit 1 round.

Continue decreasing in this way until 10 stitches remain.

Cut yarn leaving a tail long enough to thread through last 9 stitches and weave in.

Little Hearts

                           

By making a small change in the chart, we have little hearts in the top row instead of circles.
